What is Swallowing Science Network?+
SSN is a professional scientific network dedicated to knowledge, clinical reasoning, professional development, and discussion in swallowing science.
Who can join SSN?+
Students, SLP interns, Speech-Language Pathologists, swallowing specialists, researchers, consultants, and other eligible healthcare professionals involved in swallowing care can join.
Can students join?+
Yes. Students are welcome in the network and in open scientific activities, including Journal Club. Restricted clinical activities have separate eligibility requirements.
Who can attend Journal Club?+
University students, interns, SLPs, specialists, consultants, researchers, and professionals interested in swallowing science. SCFHS registration is not required.
Who can participate in Clinical Case Study sessions?+
Applicants must be registered with SCFHS, hold a relevant eligible qualification, and hold at least one recognized international swallowing-related credential approved by SSN. Participation requires verification and approval.
Why does Case Study require professional verification?+
These sessions involve advanced clinical discussion. Verification supports an appropriate professional environment, confidentiality, and responsible participation.
What certifications are accepted?+
Eligible certifications and credentials will be published by SSN. No certifications are currently listed; submitting another recognized credential does not guarantee acceptance.
Are SSN activities online?+
Activities may be online or in person. Each event page will specify the format, schedule, and meeting information.
Will I receive a certificate?+
Participation certificates may be issued for eligible activities according to attendance and activity-specific requirements. Certificate availability is stated on the event page.
Is SSN a healthcare provider?+
No. SSN is a scientific and educational professional network. It does not provide patient consultation, clinical assessment, diagnosis, or treatment.
Can patient cases be presented?+
Only fully de-identified cases may be presented. No patient-identifying information may be shared. Participants must uphold professional confidentiality, institutional requirements, and applicable permissions.
